A splendid weekend. When I came home Thursday night from praise team practice, I was surprised with a note telling me of my appointment on Friday for a body scrub at a spa with Jenny. Totally fun, except for the fact that it was already a jam packed day which included my yearly woman exam, fasting, blood work, etc… It was great, but too short. We then met up with our husbands for dinner and then were off to peruse the talents of Liberty Worth. I got myself a Libby Dibby skirt, and Jenny got a GREAT purse – soooo cute! To top it all off, we met our families at Golden Spoon for some yummy non-fat yogurt. Now that I’m “trying” to be strict with weight watchers again, that might just be my new favorite place!
Saturday morning I stretched and rolled over in my bed to see that it was 9:30am. NICE! You’ve gotta love sleeping in. Ahhhh, my favorite. As I entered the hallway, I was mobbed by my lovely ladies who were eager for me to get back into bed so they could spoil me. Even better! I was given a menu with choices of pancakes, waffles, cinnamon rolls, sausage, bacon – the works! I chose waffles and bacon. These are real waffles, mixed with love by my family, and cooked on a real waffle iron by my husband. I then proceeded to remain in bed, feasting and flipping through channels until almost noon. (I miss Saturday!) I soaked into the bath and then began the preparations for Sunday’s Mother’s Day menus for both my mom and mother-in-law.
Sunday, the girls gave me their hand-made gifts, which are always the best. Abigail wrote a wonderful poem, and Esther colored a beautiful tile. Sarah was just confused about why it was still Mother’s day. Oh, she’ll understand when she gets there.
I pinned on my traditional corsage and we went to church and then off to my mom and dad’s for lunch, and the in-laws for dinner. The most special gift was from both my parents and my in-laws. They had three photos framed and matted for me, but what makes them so special is that they are each of my daughters with their namesakes. Each one of my girls shares a middle name with one of their great-grandmothers. These photos are priceless, especially the one that was photo-shopped with my grandma who has already passed away. So awesome. When I have all three of them, I will post them for you. So thoughtful and unique, and something they will cherish as well.
Hubby’s card was the gift that keeps on givin’. It was filled with coupons explaining things like since I always prepare dinner “this” coupon is good for him to prepare dinner, or eat at an expensive restaurant, or start and finish a project of my choosing, and of course the usuals like back rubs and you know whats.
Still not sure why that would be included in a Mother’s day card – that’s usually the Father’s day routine, but whatever.
As I went to bed last night I sighed thinking of having to make lunches, go to the gym, figure out dinners, etc. Back to work. May it be an easy transition from being spoiled to being the spoiler.
