Testing…

6 Dec

one, two, three?

Is this thing on?

I’m a slacer.  A slacer who has to start thining of other words that don’t contain the letter ” “, ’cause mine isn’t woring.

Yeah.

But that’s oay.  There are exciting times a comin’.  Starting with a surprise trip to Disneyland tomorrow for the ids.  We haven’t been since January, and when you’ve had passes, and let them expire for that length of time you will understand that we are well overdue.  Especially when there is a 2 1/2 year old in our midst.

Speaing of 2 1/2 year olds…  He’s officially 2 1/2 years old today.  Excuse me while I go wipe the tears from my eyes.

Alright, I’m bac.  I’ve also been neglecting my blog, because I’ve been obsessed with this one for the last two wees.  My bestie and her family were in China, retrieving their newest little girl, sweet Lauren Grace.  The highlight?  Getting to see and tal to them via webcam the very next day after Lauren was first in their arms for good.  It was simply the best.

What’s the next exciting thing a comin’ you might as?  (Did you just giggle?  Don’t laugh at my missing letters.)  In a crazy, weird, still inconceivable way, I’m accompanying three other friends, and we’re going to Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways Christmas Show.  The 12th day I might add.  Yeah.  Haven’t felt lie sharing simply because I didn’t want to seem as though I was bragging, but I’m simply beside myself with excitement and cannot eep it in any longer.  Teehee!

So, I now there are some who enjoy pics of the fam as well, so here is an update through pics.  We’ve had Esther’s 9th birthday and Thansgiving.  Enjoy.  Until I get a woring ” “….

It’s that time again…

17 Sep

Birthday time.

Time to celebrate my sister’s birthday.

She’s a whole year older today.

Time to celebrate my surprise arrival to my parents today.

I’m also a whole year older today.  (If you haven’t heard the story yet, do tell.  I can share.  I’m certain the four readers I have are familiar with it.)

Time to “celebrate” my blog’s existence.  Today is my blog’s birthday too.  It’s a whole  four years that I’ve had this thing.  I actually like to go back through my archives and see what my life was like 4 years ago.  Kinda neat. (Thanks, Ben.)

So, one big fat HAPPY BIRTHDAY, to all of those babies born out of the love of the holidays. ;-) September is a good month.

Back at it

15 Sep

Back at the routine, the schedule, the early mornings.

(Although the boy gets up early regardless of the day)

Back at Haven.  Our ‘arts academy’ where the girls get their drama on.  This year’s fall show?  ANNIE!  And I have four members of my family involved.  Sarah will be playing Molly, Esther will be July, and Abigail earned the part of Annie.  The fourth member of my family?  That would be Buddy.  Our dog.  He will attempt the role of Sandy.  Oh my.  We shall see.

Back at school.  Three girls in school.  Three different start times.  Awesome.  And back at the homework.  Middle school homework.  Yeah.

Back at just being the boy and me for the day.  It’s been nice.  It’s weird, but still nice.  Especially when nap time comes.  :-)

Back at trying to get and keep the house in some sort of order.  Seems like a never ending job.  But it’s my job, and I do enjoy it.  Especially, when I can get at it without interruption.  Like the other day when I purged toys and books without a whimper, whine, or wince.  Because they weren’t here, and the boy was napping.  :-)   Good times!

So, gettin’ back at it.  Back at blogging too.  Gonna try anyway.  I’m potty training the boy right now, so we’re staying close to home.  :-)   And hopefully back to getting crafty too.  Libby and Mindy keep me motivated in that area.  :-)   Thanks, gals.

Now – back at it!

Oklahoma

15 Aug

What?  Pictures from Oklahoma?  I know, it’s hard to contain your excitement.  As soon as the girls were out of school on their last day, we were loading up a borrowed RV and trekking to Oklahoma to visit with the Markmiller’s.  We had a wonderful time with them and can’t wait to get back again.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Simply

9 Feb

I simply cannot wait to see this girl

sitting in the middle of this family!

It has been confirmed that she is on a plane in the air, flying to America and to her forever family!

I spent the day with this brood while the momma and daddy were on their way across the country for Lovely.  She will, no doubt, be loved by her new siblings.  It will be a sweet sight to see her with them all.  SOON!

Thank you, Lord Jesus!

What to say?

28 Jan

I just don’t know what to say about the struggles our friends, the Benedicts, are having at getting sweet Lovely home.  Hearing she would be arriving in Utah either Thursday or Friday, our friends flew to Utah to be there for her homecoming.  However, they were notified that no children would be leaving Haiti today or tomorrow, and they’re not actually sure when.

My heart breaks.  It is entangled in this family’s plight for getting their daughter home.

Act as you feel led (pray, contact officials), and read the latest post to the parents of these children awaiting their forever families.

Scraps

18 Jan

I always kept my fabric scraps, but never did anything with them.  Then I bought a bag full of scraps from Liberty, who always has GREAT fabrics, and suddenly, I have a new favorite thing to do with scraps.

This was done for my friend, Deanna’s baby shower gift.  Baby Carson is sure to look adorable in these onesies if I do say so myself.  :-)

SEND your LOVE to HAITI

It feels so helpless to simply sit back and not do something when you hear news of what is happening in Haiti. Today, prompted in part by my daughter’s school – and their efforts to raise every penny possible to send to Haiti relief – I’ve decided to do what I can do.

Remember the collages I did when I was grieving over AJ? I really needed some stability and the image of that mountain was really powerful for me. Today I’ve decided to make available some postcards and also high quality prints of the mountain collage. We had some of these made up and everyone in the family got them for Christmas, so I know they look great already… they’re framed and up in each family member’s home…So now on my etsy site, you can find packs of postcards, perfect for sending a little note (these work for men and women, unlike much of my stuff!). You can also find a listing for the archival print on high quality watercolor paper – suitable for framing. If you are interested, I can also get the print made on canvas in various sizes.

All of the profits from the sales of these mountain images will be donated to Red Cross Relief and/or Child Hope International - who are mutual friends of my family and run an orphanage in Port Au Prince, Haiti. They are sending updates via their website, so check them out.
Please please purchase these to help out – and pass on the idea to your friends and neighbors – blog, tweet and share about it – this actually can do something!

GEESH!

25 Oct

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Dog also vomited on the carpet this morning, and son removed diaper and pooped on the very same carpet.  Time for new carpet.  GEESH!

ORIGINAL POST:

I’ve had quite a few “geesh” moments…

Dodgers failed me – geesh.

Sissy came into town last weekend and so I got to see my baby girl, but only for a teeny bit – geesh.

Fall keeps teasing us out here in California – geesh.

Left for our woman’s retreat on Friday, and was surprised by my bestie – geesh!  (I shook for about 2 hours!)

Not even 10 hours into our visit, and about 5 hours into the weekend retreat, the toilet became my new best friend – geesh!

The toilet was my friend all night – geesh.

Saturday morning, I hear from the hubby that two of our children had the same night I had – geesh.

I face the facts, and go home.  Early from the retreat, and away from my bestie – GEESH!

My Mema is in the hospital – geesh!

Halloween is Saturday, and I’m still not ready – geesh!

Where has October gone? – geesh!

I haven’t blogged in 17 days – geesh!

Here are some pictures – geesh!
