Mmm Mmm Good!

8 Dec

It has been such a great blessing to have dinner made for me this week. Tuesday night, Jenny and her family came over to drop off breakfast for Wednesday morning, chocolate chip muffins. Umm, weight watchers??? Anyway, they were yummy. Then dinner came after two wonderful parent-teacher conferences. She brought over a mini-market. A case of Diet Dr. Pepper, clementine oranges, 2 loaves of homemade bread, salad with fixin’s, pasta salad (for Brandon), and yummy Bradbury burritos. DELISH! Oh, they were so good, and I’m sad to say they’re all gone. I’m sure it’s one of those things that will never taste the same unless Jenny makes them for me. 🙂 She even made quesadillas for the picky eaters who don’t like burritos. Just leaves more for me. The last of the meal was a peanut butter cake by Paula Deen. YUM-OH! This cake is soooooooo tasty! The chocolate “frosting” is best described as the chocolate glaze you might find on a donut. Except this one has some chopped peanuts as well. I’ve downed an entire row of the cake on my own as I visit my kitchen throughout the day and pick at it. Brandon put it in the refrigerator this evening and I panicked when I entered the kitchen. I thought he had gotten rid of the rest so we’d stop eating it. It’s probably not a bad idea being that I’m not getting any thinner. Mmmmm, thanks, Jenny!!!!!

Then we received another meal this evening from a sweet older couple, the Yetter’s. A very creative bread with the casserole dish baked right inside. It was a chicken, broccoli, cheesy thing inside yummy bread. I took a picture of what’s left of it. They also brought over salad and brownies with m&ms inside. Still not getting any thinner!

We got our Christmas tree today and I’m much closer to being done with my shopping as well. Very exciting. I also had Sarah’s hair cut today. Too cute!!! She didn’t want it cut until I told her it would look like Katie’s, then she was excited to do it. Katie came over to see it this afternoon, and just as girlfriends do, she gave lots of compliments to Sarah. It was so cute to see them together.

Tomorrow I am heading to a local Border’s at approximately 5:30am to wait in line and receive a wristband to be one of 300 to see Rachael Ray at her book signing. My girls just love her. She’s supposed to be signing at 1pm. So, we get a wristband at 9am when the store opens, and then come back when she arrives to have books or magazines signed. I bought 2 magazines, one for Abigail and one for Esther, and I’m hoping to bring them back with me so they can meet her. Then in the afternoon, we’re taking Cash family pictures. Should be eventful with 6 grandkids all under the age of 7. We always end up sweating, laughing, and someone ends up crying. I hope to update you all tomorrow of my adventurous day.

It’s how I feel.  I’ve been “fighting” a cold for a week now.  For the most part it’s been nasal drip down the back of the throat causing pain when swallowing.  It’s finally come to the drainage part where my nose is now red, raw, and stuffy.  I feel like my eyes look like Rodney Dangerfield’s, and my mouth/throat is nice and dry because of our wonderful weather.  Poor Abigail’s been having nose bleeds everyday because it’s so dry!

Last week was a crazy one, and it just drained me.  Fortunately, our wonderful meal’s ministry at church is bringing my family dinner throughout the week.  The woman in charge of this ministry emailed me in October to let me know this would take place in December.  I thought, “COOL!”, but what a random week.  GOD KNEW!   He knew I wouldn’t have the gumption to go grocery shopping, or prepare meals.  It gives me more time to rest, clean the house, do puzzles with Sarah, and maybe even finish my Christmas shopping.  What a blessing! I’ll let you all know about the yummy things we receive.  Especially Wednesday, when Jenny blesses us! 🙂

You know, I try to be really good and buy the “less sugar” granola bars.  Every once in a while I open one to question whether I bought the right ones.  Where are my chocolate chips and peanut butter chips???  This morning I woke up feeling awful, pretty crabby and tired.  Jenny called to see what I was up to and mentioned she had to go to the mall – so did I.  So Sarah and I got dressed to head to mall and meet up with Jenny and Katie.  I started to perk up a little bit, best friend, shopping – good day.  Then I was going to open my granola bar for this morning’s breakfast feast and as I began to open it I felt like Charlie opening the chocolate bar with the golden ticket (shout out to Amanda).  One entire end was completely covered in chocolate chips.  Ahhhhh, JACKPOT!  It was such a treasure.  Those don’t come along often.  So… cheers to everyone’s little jackpots, whatever they may be!
